Frequently Asked Questions!

1.  How old do I have to be to join Cub Scouts?

Cub Scouts are for boys and girls in grades Kindergarten - 5th.

2.  What does Cub Scouting offer my child?

Cub Scouting offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness. Service projects, ceremonies, games, and other activities guide boys and girls through the core values and give them a sense of personal achievement. Through positive peer group interaction and parental guidance, boys and girls also learn honesty, bravery, and respect.

3.  How does participation in Cub Scouting affect participation other activities?
The Cub Scout program is designed to complement many other extracurricular activities. Typical time commitment is three Den meetings and one Pack meeting per month. Boys and girls who participate in organized sports like soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, etc, or academic-based extracurricular activities like music, art, science etc., can be recognized for these activities though Cub Scout belt loops and pins which are worn on their uniform.

4.  What are the responsibilities of the adult partner?
  • Work with your Cub on advancement projects and activities.
  • Attend Pack meetings with your Cub.
  • Attend and assist with den outings.
  • Communicate with Den Leaders and the Pack

5.  Who is an adult Partner?

An adult partner can be anyone over the age of eighteen.

6.  Are Family Members allowed to participate?

Yes.  Family participation is vital to the Cub Scout program.  Family involvement provides help and support for boys and girls, and it is positive reinforcement for the lessons learned in Cub Scouting.  While most of the den activities are for the boys and girls, there are some family activities to do at home for the boys and girls to get their rank.  All family members are invited to attend pack meetings, major pack functions, and even council sponsored family campouts.

7. How much time do I need to invest in Cub Scouts?

Pack Meetings last about an hour (usually from 6:30pm to 7:30pm every 1st Tuesday of each month). Lion (Kinder) den meetings run for 45 minutes. Tigers (1st grade), Wolves (2nd grade), Bears (3rd grade), Webelos 1 (4th grade), and Webelos Arrow of Light (5th grade) Den meetings run for about one hour.  Sometimes Den Leaders will assign some homework, which is just some time to hang out with your scout and help him learn or take care of some stuff.

8. Are there any other fees for Cub Scouts?

BSA yearly dues ($72) and the Pack yearly dues ($30). The Class A uniform can be purchased little by little but is optional.
